Our previous blog 10 inspirational movies on teams had an overwhelming response with many people writing in to us, to add a few more names to the list. Apart from several lessons on teambuilding, leadership and positive team dynamics, these movies can also help in triggering interesting conversations and a strong common language between team members on the power of team work & other nuances associated with it.

1. Glory
A film based on the fight of the U.S. Civil War’s first all-black regiment to overcome prejudice and become a successful and cohesive unit. “Glory” is an exceptional film.
A true story of the Civil War that is both touching and inspirational. It depicts the story of the first black unit from the North to be trained and actually go into battle. Led by their very empathetic but very young Colonel (played brilliantly by Matthew Broderick), the 54th Regiment endures many hardships felt not only by being soldiers of this devastating war but as African Americans as well. Their spirit, pride and tears along the way, is projected in this film by these wonderful actors in a way that will make you feel all the anguish and pride that they felt.

4. The Incredibles
Pixar’s “The Incredibles” was easily the brightest, funniest, and most inspiring film of the year 2004—a multi-faceted team-building story with heart.
The film’s title is the name of a family of superheroes who are forced to hide their powers and live a quiet suburban life. Mr. Incredible’s desire to help people draws the entire family into a battle with an evil villain and his killer robot.
In a time when we’re being absolutely flooded with superhero movies, it’s hard to imagine there’s much originality left out there to be captured by the genre. “The Incredibles”, has special qualities, especially in the subtle ways it observes its gifted characters trying to dumb down and join the crowd.
Kids in the audience will likely miss that level, but will like the exuberance of characters like Dash. Grown-ups are likely to be surprised by how smart the movie is, and how sneakily perceptive.
